Researchers from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) have written a report that compiles the current state of knowledge about the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes the COVID-19 disease, in areas used for bathing and other water-based activities. Of the possible transmission routes in the environments referred to in this report (swimming pools, beaches, rivers, etc.), the main transmission routes of SARS-CoV-2 are respiratory secretions generated by coughs and sneezes and person-to-person contact.
